Mission Trips Uganda’s Story
Bob Dylan’s song speaks to our hearts here at Mission Trips Uganda. His words ring true.
“WHAT GOOD AM I”
What good am I if I’m like all the rest,
If I just turn away, when I see how you’re dressed,
If I shut myself off so I can’t hear you cry,
What good am I?
What good am I if I know and don’t do,
If I see and don’t say, if I look right through you,
If I turn a deaf ear to the thunderin’ sky,
What good am I?
What good am I while you softly weep
And I hear in my head what you say in your sleep,
And I freeze in the moment like the rest who don’t try,
What good am I?
What good am I then to others and me
If I’ve had every chance and yet still fail to see
If my hands are tied must I not wonder within
Who tied them and why and where must I have been
What good am I if I say foolish things
And I laugh in the face of what sorrow brings
And I just turn my back while you silently die,
What good am I?

We want to see a world where all the orphaned, destitute and vulnerable children are loved, inspired, nurtured and cherished. We want to see a world where all their basic spiritual and physical needs are met and that they are provided with resources for education from the early stages of their lives.
We want to permanently break down barriers for those left orphaned and vulnerable regardless of social, political, or economic conditions. This may seem, and likely may be idealistic, but what is the worst that can happen by trying? Even if we fall dramatically short and help thousands of orphans, we can live with such a failure!
Joseph was born in small town called Iganga in Eastern Uganda and raised on the farm in Kyegewa in Western Uganda under very humble circumstances. Kyegegwa is about 191.5 km west of Kampala. He had to walk to school 5 kilometers away from home from the age of 7. He still remembers the times the hot surface burnt his feet when walking under the hot sun, as He did not have any shoes for part of his growing up. He had to make charcoal, sell firewood and also work on people’s farms to raise his school fees. .
Joseph is a born-again Christian and is passionate about working with the Children, the people of Uganda and the local communities. He believes that the Ugandan Children are the hope and the next generation of Uganda’s future leaders.
Some of the items Joseph is keen to share about are, how children are brought up in the African community, their roles, chores, expectations and the general upbringing into adulthood. The schooling of children, the African drumming, dancing and the music, how this is deeply ingrained in the African people.
Joseph graduated as a professional Project Manager from Makerere University Business School in Kampala-Uganda. Joseph’s expertise is with organizational management and planning. He passionately holds a philosophy in life of serving others beyond self. He worked and volunteered countless hours in Non-profit Christian Organizations and Community projects around Uganda serving and mentoring the Children and the youth.
Joseph has always had a passion to reach out and work with Children and youth of Uganda with the love of Jesus Christ by working in different projects he began to see a huge need to help the vulnerable Children and for school sponsorship, particularly for the young children. Out of this need and his desire to serve the community him and his team started Mission Trips Uganda.
Being a child who came from a humble background with no hope for the future, Mission Trips Uganda’s program of helping the Orphaned, abandoned and the vulnerable Children of Uganda is very dear to his heart. He desires to give back to the communities of children who have so little and would not be helped otherwise.
His goal is to honor God with his life and live with honesty and integrity and serve the people and the communities in Uganda. Now his mission is to help expand Mission Trips Uganda Programs by planting Children’s Villages, Community based churches, Mission Schools, Mission Hospitals a cross the country. His desire is to give the orphaned and Vulnerable children of Uganda the opportunity to become children who will grow to influence and impact their families, communities and the country.
“Our legacy should be created based on what we do for others, not on how much money we make or how many material things we acquire. We will never know the impact of the ripple effect of our actions and obedience if we sit on the sidelines as spectators.”
We believe partnerships with Churches, organizations, colleges, businesses, and individuals will be crucial in making our dream possible.
